Becoming a member & application process
The British Film Designers Guild (BFDG) represent highly skilled technicians across the Art Department. Our membership covers a diverse range of skills and experience, with individuals working across the board in Feature Films, Shorts, Pilots, Promos, Commercials, Television Film/Series and Light Entertainment. Spanning project budgets for International, Independent and micro-financed productions. With a range of Membership Levels available to apply for, we will be sure to find the right fit for you.
Whether you are based in the UK, Europe or Internationally, all are welcome to apply for membership, although benefits of being a member may be limited or excluded to non-UK based residents. Please check out our Membership Eligibility for further information.

To Register Online, please fill in your details and choose the relevant credit level you wish to apply for. Further information on the Application Process can be found below, please read this prior to submitting your application.
Please note that we do not operate as an employment agency or trade union. Work visas/permits are UK Government and Border Agency controlled, please contact them directly for further information if required.
Application Process
All applications attract a one-off administration fee of £20.00, this is non-refundable (except in the case of Newcomer applications) whether your application is successful or not.
To support your application, we do please ask that you provide:
- An endorsement from a current BFDG member or Head of Department on your latest project (NB. NOT required for Production Designer applications).
- Your latest CV/Portfolio.
The application process takes place monthly, with the deadline to be considered within the next available review being the 28th of each month. After this point, your application will automatically roll over into the following period.
Each application is individually assessed and reviewed by the BFDG Committee. With several job categories, it is important to get the right fit so we appreciate your patience as this can take a few weeks.
